Hello Globetrotter! Welcome to the new website of GardenRouteTourism - your one-stop resource for all you need to know about the beautiful Garden Route in South Africa, what it has to offer you while you are here on holiday and where you can go to have the time of your life!
"HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH" The magnificent beauty of the world-famous Cape Garden Route, with its famous stretch of luxuriant coastline, makes it a highly sought-after destination for holidaymakers and travellers from all over the world. The breathtaking combination of indigenous forests, lakes and lagoons, waterways and rivers, wild-life and fynbos, which are bordered by a rugged coastline possessing magnificent beaches washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, offers the visitor much more than expected and everything they desire. The mild and equable climate provides the visitor an enjoyable stay through-out the year. WHERE AND WHAT IS THE GARDEN ROUTE? The Garden Route stretches along the Southern Cape Coast from Heidelberg in the west to Storms River, and the Tsitsikamma Forest in the east. It offers a breathtaking montage of raging rivers, magnificent mountains, flourishing forests and beautiful beaches. The amazing variety of indigenous fauna and flora along the Garden Route is mostly protected and can be enjoyed for generations to come. Amongst the numerous little towns along the Garden Route offering a variety of attractions, you will find a slender stretch of natural coast between Mossel Bay and Storms River Mouth. This represents the legendary South African Paradise - reflected in well-known local names such as 'Garden of Eden' and 'Wilderness'. A quote from "Lonely Planet BLUELIST": - Garden Route (South Africa) Unspoilt beaches, indiginous forests, secluded coves, spectacular mountains that meet the sea ... topped with wonderful food and wine. Truly paradise! The Garden Route is definitely well worth the label - "Heaven on Earth". However, deep in my heart I shall always remember one description, as described to me in a soft and content voice by an elderly British lady, after her son took her on a week-long tour of the Garden Route: "I have seen heaven, now I am ready to go..." These heartfelt and spontaneous words brought tears to my eyes and a silence over her son.
